Design for a Changing World

At Fisher & Paykel, they are deeply curious about the ways people live their lives around our products. They are also curious about the social and cultural movements, sustainability, technology, healthy living and urbanisation — that affect individual behaviour and lead to broader social change.

Herne Bay House: Design Freedom

This kitchen of this Herne Bay villa transformed by Studio John Irving is designed for enjoyment and entertaining, views and connections. It’s the home’s social centre and it also illustrates our commitment to complete design freedom – appliances designed to be distributed almost anywhere to create flexible zones tailored to your lifestyle and patterns of use, all seamlessly integrated for a complete, unified aesthetic.

Coopworth House: Design Freedom

Designed by FMD Architects for a working sheep farm on Bruny Island, Tasmania, Coopworth is a reinterpretation of the classic Australian farmhouse. The surprisingly experimental house is designed to expand – and so is its kitchen. For most of the year Coopworth caters to two people – a number swells to 20 at other times of the year. While sleeping mats in the home’s ‘internal eave’ accommodate plenty of guests, the planning of what is a relatively compact kitchen – and the way appliances are distributed, integrated and detailed – helps make the transition to different patterns of use effortless.
